A thorough exploration of traumatic wound is critical to accurately assess the severity of the injury. The authors report a case of a missed achilles tendon injury diagnosed as a superficial laceration in the emergency department. The purpose of this case report is to highlight the importance of physical examination and history taking resulting in having a high clinical index of suspicion for diagnosing specific injuries, in this case achilles tendon injury, which will result in prompt orthopedic referral and specialized patient care.
