Key Points

  • To evaluate the efficacy of the perfusion index as a predictor of ischemia progression in patients with peripheral arterial disease.
  • Conducted a logistic regression analysis on perfusion index data among patients with peripheral arterial disease.
  • Evaluated the association of perfusion index values with disease progression over a 3-month follow-up period.
  • A perfusion index (PIave) value of < 0.27 significantly predicts disease progression (p < 0.001).
  • Negative predictive value of the perfusion index was found to be 98% for predicting non-progression to CLTI.

Abstract

< .001; negative predictive value: 98%). Logistic regression analysis revealed that PIave < .27 was significantly associated with disease progression. In conclusion, the PI is a simple and useful marker for accurately indicating the degree of ischemia in the toes. The PI can predict that a patient will not progress to CLTI in the next 3 months with conservative treatment and may contribute to safe follow-up.
