Abstract

SUMMARY An operational definition of depressive disorder was used to define a group of prepubertal children attending a hospital‐based out‐patient child psychiatry clinic. The construct validity of depressive disorder in childhood was demonstrated by comparing this group with a matched control group on historical and clinical data.
