Abstract

Abstract During a 1‐year field study conducted in 2025, three leaf‐mining fly species— Liriomyza sativae , L. bryoniae , and Phytomyza horticola – were identified across multiple agricultural regions of Armenia. Mined leaves were recorded on 21 cultivated vegetable crops and three ornamental plant species, indicating a broad host range of these pests. L. bryoniae and P. horticola are reported for the first time in Armenia, while new reliable data on the distribution and host preferences of L. sativae is provided. The study also identified new host plants for all three species, documented host‐specific damage levels, and provided detailed ecological and morphological analyses. Statistical analyses (one‐way ANOVA) conducted for the most abundant species ( L. sativae ) demonstrated that its host plant species have a significant, though limited, effect on pest's body size. These findings contribute further important information for phytosanitary monitoring and development of region‐specific integrated pest management strategies in Armenian agroecosystems.
