Abstract

Abstract Tissue engineering has transformed periodontal therapy by facilitating the regeneration of lost tissues. Bioceramics such as calcium phosphate and bioactive glass play a central role in this process because of their biocompatibility, osteoconductivity, and ability to deliver therapy. They imitate bone mineral, facilitate stem cell function, and can be tailored for individual clinical requirements using methodologies such as three-dimensional printing and nanotechnology. New technologies also allow bioceramics to release antibiotics, growth factors, and genes to facilitate regeneration. This article discusses the history, characteristics, and clinical use of bioceramics in periodontal regeneration with a focus on their increasing application in customized, effective, and biologically connected dental treatments.
