Relational Architecture and Expansion Expression: A Foundational Framework for Cross-Domain Systems

View Full Paper
JPJenna Pagan

Key Points

  • The aim is to introduce a conceptual framework that links structural emergence across diverse domains. It proposes a generative relational process of expansion for understanding reality.
  • Introduced the Relational Architecture and Expansion Expression (RAEE) framework as a domain-agnostic system.
  • Developed a two-fold relational unfolding model to illustrate expansion and differentiation.
  • Conducted cross-domain case studies in symbolic systems, cosmology, and biology to test the framework.
  • The framework provides a coherent understanding of emergence consistent with relational accounts of reality.
  • Demonstrated how projection invariance governs structural relationships across different frames and scales.
  • Illustrated compatibility with established models such as general relativity and ΛCDM cosmology.

Abstract

Version 1.1 notes: Licensing updated to CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. Refined selected passages (§4.4, §5.3, §6) for clarity and selective disclosure calibration. Updated AI Disclosure to reflect comparison-group methodology. Foundational content unchanged. The Relational Architecture and Expansion Expression (RAEE) Framework is introduced as adomain-agnostic conceptual system designed to unify structure, emergence, and meaningacross physical, biological, cognitive, and cultural domains. The framework proposes thatexpansion is the generative relational process through which reality expresses itself at all scales, building on traditions in relational ontology 1 2 and general systems theory 3. Expressions—ranging from stars to planets, from organisms to observers—arise as scale-dependentmanifestations of this underlying architecture. A central contribution is the two-fold relationalunfolding model, illustrating how expansion makes internally existing structure expressiblethrough increasing relational differentiation. Expressions are shown to be relationally cogenerated, forming a continuous chain reaction of emergence consistent with process-relationalaccounts of reality 4. The framework is compatible with established physical modelsincluding general relativity and the ΛCDM cosmological model 5, functioning as a relationaland architectural layer above these theories. Projection invariance—the preservation ofstructural relationships under changes of frame, scale, or representation—is proposed as thegoverning principle of cross-domain coherence. Cross-domain case studies in symbolicsystems, cosmology, and biology demonstrate explanatory reach across domains.
