Key Points

  • This study aims to explore the electronic structure of the heavy fermion superconductor CeCoIn5 using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy.
  • Conducted angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (ARPES) on CeCoIn5
  • Examined spectral weight distribution across the Fermi surface map at low temperatures (< 6 K)
  • Analyzed coupling effects between 4f states and conduction bands near the Fermi level.
  • Observed non-uniform distribution of 4f-derived spectral weight across the Fermi surface
  • Noted rapid changes in band slope and increasing 4f contribution near the Fermi level
  • Identified presence of heavy quasiparticle bands with effective mass approximately 100 times that of an electron.

Abstract

We studied the electronic structure of a canonical heavy fermion superconductor CeCoIn\ (₅\) using angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (ARPES). We observed a non-uniform distribution of \ (4f\) -derived spectral weight across the Fermi surface map measured below the coherence temperature (\ (T=6~ K T_ coh 45\) K). Different effects of the coupling between \ (4f\) -states and conduction bands were observed near the Fermi level (\ (E_ F\) ): (i) rapid change of the band slope and increasing \ (4f\) spectral contribution, when approaching \ (E_ F\), (ii) presence of heavy quasiparticle bands (\ (m^ 100mₑ\) ).
