Theoretical Foundations of Task-Based Language Learning

Task-Based Language Learning (TBLL), also referred to as Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT), has become one of the most influential methodological approaches in contemporary foreign language education. Unlike traditional grammar-centered methods that prioritize memorization of rules and isolated language structures, TBLT emphasizes meaningful communication and purposeful interaction. Learners acquire language through completing communicative tasks that simulate authentic real-life situations. Such tasks include discussions, interviews, role-plays, projects, debates, presentations, and problem-solving activities.
