Key Points

  • This research aims to evaluate the governance of language models in legal contexts to mitigate risks associated with inaccurate outputs.
  • Developed the AAIA-RAG-LEGAL system to govern language model outputs with verified sources.
  • Implemented independent output verification processes and structured traceability for legal documentation.
  • Documented results demonstrating effectiveness on 19 May 2026.
  • The AAIA-RAG-LEGAL system significantly reduces the risks of incorrect case citations and unverified assertions.
  • Operational effectiveness has been validated, showcasing measurable improvements in legal accuracy.
  • Improved reliability of AI-generated legal documents was observed without the need to replace the underlying models.

Abstract

Large language models produce plausible outputs even without verifiable grounding. In legal contexts this structural characteristic generates documentable risks: incorrect case citations, reference to judgments absent from the corpus, unanchored assertions delivered with full confidence. AAIA-RAG-LEGAL is the first vertical application of the AAIA architecture: a system that governs the language model rather than replacing it, imposing verified sources, independent output verification, and structured traceability. Results documented on 19 May 2026 demonstrate the difference measurably. The system is operational.
