Key Points

  • This research aims to explore how to generate highly directional supercontinuum light using nitrogen gas and specific radiation conditions.
  • Utilized aberration focusing of radiation at a wavelength of 940 nm
  • Produced a filament in nitrogen gas
  • Targeted energy levels up to 7 mJ over a duration of 70 fs
  • Generated a highly directional supercontinuum with a spectrum from 350 to 1200 nm
  • Observed that the radiation divergence was diffractive
  • Achieved an energy output of 17 µJ

Abstract

The paper studies the conditions for the generation of a highly directional supercontinuum in a filament created in nitrogen gas by aberration focusing of radiation at a wavelength of 940 nm with duration of 70 fs and energy up to 7 mJ. It is shown that the spectrum of the highly directional supercontinuum covers the range from 350 to 1200 nm, its radiation divergence is diffractive, and its energy is 17 µJ.
