Key Points

  • The aim is to investigate the behavior of plane waves in a microstretch thermoelastic medium incorporating non-local effects and dual phase lag.
  • Employed microstretch theory to model complex microscale structures.
  • Solved governing equations for plane waves to analyze wave interactions.
  • Calculated reflection coefficients based on boundary conditions.
  • Identified existence of coupled waves: Coupled Transverse Displacement, Coupled Micro-rotational Displacement, Coupled Longitudinal Displacement, Coupled Thermal, and Coupled Transverse Micro-rotational waves.
  • Demonstrated that non-locality and dual phase lag significantly influence phase velocity and reflection coefficients of the waves.

Abstract

This study explores the propagation of plane waves in a two-dimensional micro stretch thermoelastic non local dual phase lag model. This study addresses the dual phase thermoelasticty with complex micro structures by employing microstretch theory which incorporates rotation, microstretch and non-local at microscale. The governing equations of the model are solved for the plane waves and found the existence of coupled waves as Coupled Transverse Displacement (CTD) wave, Coupled Micro-rotational Displacement wave (CMD) and the other three waves are Coupled Longitudinal Displacement (CLD) wave, Coupled Thermal (CT) wave and Coupled Transverse Micro-rotational (CTM) wave. The reflection coefficients of these waves are calculated by using the relevant boundary conditions. The graphical results, demonstrates how the non-locality and dual phase lag affects the phase velocity and the reflection coefficients of the model.
