AbstractInterprofessional and interdisciplinary relations in health care cannot be addressed without taking into account issues of personhood. Professional and disciplinary differences are articulated as conceptual paradigms. However, they are manifested in terms of who professional persons consider themselves to be in relation to what is expected of them. Territorial issues arise out of concerns for personal integrity in doing one's work. Successful collaboration is enhanced by a process of cultural sensitization to other professional groups.Key words: professional personhoodtrainingterritorialitycultural sensitization
