Abstract

Coherence narrowing and collision broadening of the 5s5p 1 P 1 level of strontium have been studied. The natural lifetime of this level has been determined to be 4.68 ± 0.10 ns. The oscillator strength of the 4607 Å transition is 1.94 ± 0.06, and the f values of the transitions from the 5s6p, 5s7p, and 5s8p 1 P 1 levels to the ground level and the 5s4d 1 D 2 metastable level have been reevaluated. The cross section for Sr–Sr collisions is found to be Formula: see text.
