Abstract

The study determined the relationship between social networks and entrepreneurial orientation among small scale business owners in Rivers state university. The researcher adopted correlational design for the study. The population of this study consisted of 92 entrepreneurs operating in rivers state university. There was no sampling because the population is manageable. Two research questions and null hypotheses guided the study. A structured questionnaire with a four points scale was used for data collection. The instrument was face validated by three experts and their suggestions and correction were effected. Reliability coefficient index of 0.81 was obtained through Pearson Product moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMCC). The analysis was done by Pearson Product Moment Correlation formula. The findings revealed that negatively strong relationship existed between social networks and entrepreneurial orientation (diversity and innovations). Based on the findings, it was recommended that; University management should recognize network of African student Entrepreneurs and provide enabling business environment and facilities for entrepreneurial activities in the campus. Further, university management should key into the laudable programme of organized body as to help in empowering students after graduation
