Abstract

Maesa cavinervis is a species of the genus Maesa in the family Primulaceae s.l. At present, the complete chloroplast information and systematic position of M. cavinervis have not been reported. In this study, we sequenced and assembled the complete chloroplast genome of M. cavinervis using Illumina sequencing technology. The complete chloroplast genome of M. cavinervis is 156,743 bp in length and consists of a large single-copy region (LSC; 87,353 bp) and a small single-copy region (SSC; 18,120 bp), which are separated by a pair of inverted-repeat regions (IRs; 25,635 bp). A total of 128 genes were annotated, including 83 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. The overall GC content was 37.3%. Phylogenetic analyses including eight Maesa species and 11 species from five other genera of Primulaceae and showed that M. cavinervis is closely related to M. hupehensis.
