An Evaluation of Nursing Students' Attitudes and Interest in Working with Older People

Theory and clinical experiences related to the older adult were integrated into an upper division baccalaureate nursing program. The evaluation design was pre-test, post-test, repeated measures utilizing the Kogan Attitude Toward Old People Scale and a modified Wilensky-Barmack Work Preference Questionnaire. Although attitudes toward the settings did not change and did not include the older age group. While attitudes can change, factors in addition to curriculum will need to be considered in changing work preferences.
