Purpose The study aims to provide a new theoretical perspective for enterprises to enhance supply chain resilience (SCR) through digital technology to adapt to the increasingly complex competitive environment. Design/methodology/approach Data from A-share listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen from 2014 to 2023 were used. Based on the affordance actualization theory and the knowledge-based view, the impact mechanism of digital technology affordance (DTA) on SCR was empirically tested along the path of “affordance-actualization behavior-goal achievement”. Findings The results show that DTA significantly enhances SCR, with radical knowledge innovation acting as a mediator, while incremental knowledge innovation does not play a mediating role. Heterogeneity analysis indicates that the positive effect of DTA on SCR is more pronounced in eastern regions, non-high-tech, non-manufacturing and non-state-owned enterprises. Originality/value The impact mechanism of DTA on SCR is investigated in this study, with the mediating role of knowledge innovation being analyzed and verified. The findings are instructive for enterprises to transform the potential of digital technology into actual SCR.
