Abstract

This paper proposes a method for torque ripple suppression in sensorless control of permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs), which is designed to be robust against parameter errors. Torque ripple can be estimated robustly and with high precision even with some inaccuracy in parameter values by utilizing magnetic coenergy. However, conventional suppression control, based on sensorless current control techniques, encounters challenges in minimizing torque ripple due to errors in position estimation. To address this issue, the proposed approach leverages the maximum torque control axis. The results of an experimental evaluation of the proposed method show that it suppressed torque ripple effectively and was able to estimate the position while remaining robust to errors in parameter values.
