A smartphone-based method for measuring small-scale slope failures observed from a road surface

YKYusuke KimuraMNMiyuri NISHIO

Key Points

  • This research aims to develop a safe, low-cost method for measuring small-scale slope failures without entering the dangerous area.
  • Utilized smartphone and long rod for measurements from a road surface.
  • Combined vertical support and handheld capturing techniques for robust data collection.
  • Established reference points and markers for enhancing measurement accuracy.
  • Achieved target accuracy in 5 out of 8 measurements, indicating the method's effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated reduced measurement errors through the proposed improvements.
