Key Points

  • The study aims to evaluate the gasification characteristics of wool in supercritical water for hydrogen production.
  • Utilized supercritical water gasification (SCWG) to test wool samples.
  • Applied Cu-3% Al2O3 as a catalyst to enhance gasification efficiency and total gas yield.
  • Measured gasification efficiency and total gas yield outcomes.
  • Achieved a gasification efficiency of 95.71% and hydrogen production yield of 42.72 mol kg−1.
  • Demonstrated a high heating value of 119.26% post-catalysis with Cu-3% Al2O3.
  • Significant enhancement in efficiency and yield when using the catalyst was observed.

Abstract

SCWG of wool achieved high gasification efficiency (CE = 95.71%, HE = 119.26%) and total gas yield of 42.72 mol kg −1 , which were further significantly enhanced by Cu-3% Al 2 O 3 catalysis.
