Key Points

  • The aim is to investigate the immunological overlap and clinical transitions between atopic dermatitis and psoriasis.
  • Analyzed pharmacovigilance data on patients with atopic dermatitis treated with dupilumab and psoriasis biologics.
  • Looked for reports of paradoxical psoriasis and dermatitis after initiation of therapy.
  • Patients with atopic dermatitis developed paradoxical psoriasis after starting dupilumab treatment.
  • Similar transitions were observed in patients receiving various psoriasis biologics, suggesting a complex immunological interplay.

Abstract

Atopic Dermatitis (AD) and psoriasis are two of the most common immune-mediated skin conditions worldwide. As research evolves, overlapping immunological pathogenesis and disease characteristics between AD and psoriasis have emerged (Guttman-Yassky and Krueger 2017). Patients with AD have been reported to develop what clinically appears to be paradoxical psoriasis after the initiation of dupilumab, with the inverse occurring with multiple classes of psoriasis biologics (Al-Janabi et al. 2024; Bridgewood et al.
