Abstract

Sex differences were identified in the AUC of creatin kinase (CK) and interleukin 6 (IL-6) after eccentric exercise, both of which were greater in men. A genotype-sex interaction was identified in recovery of maximal voluntary contraction (MVC). The G allele showed a significantly lower recovery of MVC than AA genotype in men. To our knowledge, this is the first study to report the interaction between MMP3 gene rs522616 polymorphism and sex difference on recovery of muscle strength after eccentric exercise.
