Abstract

This paper examines the shift from traditional to modern technological methods in learning English and their impact on language acquisition. Traditional approaches, such as textbook-based instruction and grammar-translation methods, help develop grammatical accuracy but often limit communicative competence and practical language use. Modern technologies, including online platforms, mobile applications, artificial intelligence tools, and virtual learning environments, have made language learning more interactive, flexible, and learner-centered. These tools provide personalized feedback, adapt to learners’ needs, and allow access to resources anytime and anywhere. A major advantage of modern methods is their emphasis on communication skills. Through social media, discussion forums, and language exchange platforms, learners can interact with native speakers and improve both linguistic and intercultural communication skills. Multimedia resources and gamification also increase motivation and engagement by presenting language in authentic and interactive ways. Despite these benefits, technology-based learning also has challenges, such as digital distraction and overreliance on technology. Therefore, combining traditional teaching methods with modern technological tools is essential for effective English language learning
