Abstract

Objective: To investigate the effects of Paeonol-Poria cocos polysaccharide combination on the regulation of glycolipid metabolism in rats with myocardial infarction by targeted metabolomics. Methods: A rat myocardial infarction model was established. Echocardiography, histopathology and metabolomics were used to assess the efficacy of the combination therapy. Results: The results demonstrated that Paeonol - Poria cocos polysaccharide combination led to significant improvements in cardiac function, with a reduction in ventricular dilatation and fibrosis. Metabolomics analysis identified 7 differential metabolites, significantly enriched in 5 core pathways: 1) protein digestion and absorption, 2) carbon metabolism in cancer centers, 3) arginine biosynthesis, 4) aminoacyl-tRNA biosynthesis, and 5) ABC transport pathway, which highlights the unique advantages of Traditional Chinese medicine’s multi-targeted metabolic modulation in the treatment of myocardial infarction. Conclusion: The combination of Paeonol - Poria cocos polysaccharide demonstrated significant improvements in cardiac function and inhibited ventricular dilatation and fibrosis in rats with myocardial infarction. This was achieved by synergistically regulating 5 core metabolic pathways: protein digestion and absorption, carbon metabolism in tumor centers, arginine biosynthesis, aminoacyl-tRNA biosynthesis, and ABC transporter protein.
