Abstract

Instructions for the preparation of the full papers for the conference are presented. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a novel transdermal drug delivery system (TDDS) containing the analgesic drugs Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen to overcome the limitations of the oral route, such as short half-lives and potential gastrointestinal irritation. The dual-drug analgesic-loaded matrix patches were successfully formulated using the solvent casting technique,optimising the concentration of the matrix-forming polymer HPMC K4M, the plasticiser PEG 400, and the permeation enhancer peppermint oil.Optimised formulations (F-X) were characterised for physicochemical properties, exhibiting excellent uniformity, flexibility, and drug content uniformity. Crucially ex vivo skin permeation studies, conducted over 24 hours using a Franz diffusion cell, demonstrated high steady-state flux for both drugs, confirming the ability of the optimised formulation to effectively traverse the stratum corneum. This research confirms the successful preparation and evaluation of a stable, dual-drug analgesic transdermal patch with the potential for sustained pain relief and improved patient compliance.
