Abstract

The conflict in West Asia is destabilizing global food, energy, water and soil systems through direct environmental contamination and disruption of critical agricultural supply chains. These impacts are intensifying food insecurity and ecological degradation, particularly in developing regions. Urgent cessation of hostilities, soil remediation, ecosystem restoration and resilient agri-food governance are essential to prevent food-energy-water-soil (FEWS) nexus collapse and support long-term recovery. © 2026 Society of Chemical Industry.
