Abstract

This study examines the effects of diversity and inclusion initiatives on hotel employees’ performance in selected hotels around Ikeja, Lagos State. The research employed quantitative survey design; the study population comprised hotel staff in Ikeja, Lagos State. Data was collected from primary sources using questionnaires. A total of 217 copies of the questionnaire were administered, and respondents were selected purposively for the organization, while convenience sampling was used for the employees. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency counts, percentages, means, and standard deviations. Also, Pearson Correlation and SPSS were used to analyze the inferential statistics. The study's findings revealed a significant relationship between the implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives and employee productivity; the P value (0.0001) is below the significance level (0.05). Also, on the relationship between implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives and employee performance, it is revealed that the P value (0.001) is less than the level of significance (0.05), which states that 'there is a significant relationship between the Implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives and employee performance. In conclusion, the findings indicate a positive perception of Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) practices among employees, highlighting their effectiveness in fostering a positive work environment, enhancing problem-solving capabilities, and improving job satisfaction and overall performance. The study recommends that recruitment be bias-free, that comprehensive training be provided, and that anti-discrimination policies be strictly enforced
