Abstract

The statistics of multiple‐scattering contributiona to the electric field received at a point beyond a layer containing a forward‐scattering random dielectric continuum are investigated. Specific Statistics such as first and second moments of the field are derived via high‐frequency approximations in all terms of the Born series, thus circumventing controversial derivations from an approximated wave equation. The results and their range of validity are compared to those predicted by Rytov't approximation.
