Top near threshold: all αS corrections are trivial

Abstract

We have calculated a new class of the O(α S ) QCD radiative correction to the total cross-section of the top threshold production in e + e − → t t → W − bW + b reaction. This correction originates from b b , t b , t b gluon exchange and the corresponding gluon emission. We call them “jet-jet” interactions. We found out a curious fact: there is no O(α S ) correction to the total cross-section, originated from “jet-jet” interaction. Thus, all O(α S ) corrections which are non-zero, can be classified as 1) corrections to the t t nonrelativistic potential, 2) corrections to the top width, and 3) the hard gluon correction to the γt t - vertex . These corrections are well-known and were described in previous papers.
