Abstract

Calculations are carried out on the rate of simple ionic recombination between H - ions and various positive ions B + (H - + B + → H + B). The coefficient describing the process is in general very high - at normal temperatures values of about 10 -7 cm 3 sec -1 or more are to be expected. Dissociative ionic recombination (A - + CD + → A + C + D) is also discussed. It may be extremely rapid.
