IN TWO previous reports1,2studies of the blood supply to the cervical spinal cord with the aid of microangiography were described. The present report gives an account of a similar study of the remaining parts of the spinal cord. The present report is warranted for largely the same reasons as the previous ones. Firstly, in recent years the anatomy of the blood vessels of the spinal cord has been shown to be related in detail to various clinical problems.2-6Exact knowledge about the central arteries, their areas of supply, and the individual distribution and variations in caliber of the radicular arteries—knowledge that is not to be found in previous anatomical reports—may increase our understanding of the clinical symptoms and pathological anatomy of various vascular lesions of the cord and may also be of importance to the surgeon operating on the cord.
