SUMMARY Ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament of the cervical spine may be asymptomatic, or may cause local symptoms or symptoms of cord compression (Fujimoto and Terayama, 1969). Myelography may reveal a narrowed spinal canal (Onji et al., 1967). It has a typical radiological appearance and until recently has been described only in Japanese individuals.
