Esmon, Ph.D., was a Distinguished Career Scientist at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) in Oklahoma City, where he worked from 1982 until his retirement in 2019 and continued in that role until his death on May 1, 2026. He conducted pioneering research on the regulation of blood clotting, the protein C pathway, and its links to inflammation, leading to FDA-approved therapies including Ceprotin. He previously held positions at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and was an HHMI Investigator.
