Ancel Benjamin Keys (1904–2004) was an American physiologist who studied the influence of diet on health and cardiovascular disease. He was professor and director of the Laboratory of Physiological Hygiene at the University of Minnesota from 1937 until his retirement in 1972. Keys led the Seven Countries Study on diet, lifestyle, and cardiovascular risk factors and developed the Keys equation relating dietary fats to blood cholesterol levels.
