Seymour Furman, MD (1931–2006), was a cardiologist and pioneer in cardiac pacing and electrophysiology. He served as the second president of the Heart Rhythm Society (then NASPE) from 1981–1982 and was affiliated with Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He developed techniques for nonsurgical pacemaker insertion and contributed to numerous studies on pacemakers and arrhythmias.
