Lawrence L. Rudel, PhD (1941-2019), was Professor of Internal Medicine-Section on Molecular Medicine and Biochemistry at Wake Forest School of Medicine, where he served as Section Head of Lipid Sciences in the Department of Pathology from 2005 to 2014 and retired in 2018. He conducted research on cholesterol metabolism, dietary lipids, and cardiovascular disease for over 50 years, with continuous NIH funding and extensive service to the American Heart Association, including as Chair of the ATVB Council.
