Mark C. Fishman, M.D., is Professor of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology at Harvard University and Principal Faculty at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute. He previously served as Chief of the Cardiology Division and Director of the Cardiovascular Research Center at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, and as founding President of the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research from 2002 to 2016. His research uses zebrafish to study the heart-brain axis, autonomic control of cardiac function, and genetic pathways in vertebrate organ development including congenital heart defects.
