Richard B. Robinson is a former Director of Graduate Studies of the Department of Pharmacology and Associate Dean for Graduate Affairs at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. His laboratory has studied the regulation of cardiac ion channels and their autonomic signaling with respect to post-natal development and cardiac disease, using cardiac cell cultures, isolated single cells, and transgenic animals. He has developed genetic therapies involving over-expression of selected channels in the heart or stem cells to create biological pacemakers and enhance conduction.
