Grant W. Somes, PhD, served as chair of the Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He led the Design, Biostatistics and Ethics Unit of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute and applied statistical methods to research on hypertension, cardiovascular reactivity, and related health outcomes. He earned a PhD in statistics from the University of Kentucky in 1975.
