Nikos Protonotarios was a cardiologist and researcher who served as Professor of Cardiology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He discovered Naxos disease, a form of arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy associated with cutaneous abnormalities, in 1986 while practicing in Naxos, Greece. He collaborated with international institutions including St George's Hospital Medical School, University of Arizona, University of Padua, and University of Crete on cardiovascular research.
