Abstract With the diversified development of offshore lifting scenarios and lifting objects, the safety, reliability and economy of lifting motion compensation techniques for large, heavy, geometrically structured and unevenly mass distributed payloads are facing new challenges. This paper systematically reviews the development history of offshore lifting motion compensation technology, which not only introduces the latest research progress of representative offshore lifting motion compensation technology, but also introduces some offshore lifting motion compensation products with superior performance in the field of offshore engineering, and comprehensively summarizes the technical features, working principles, advantages and disadvantages of these products in a comprehensive way. Finally, it is pointed out that the motion compensation technology for offshore cranes and gangways in the new situation should focus on breakthroughs in the direction of fast response, high compensation accuracy, adaptability to larger loads and intelligent control, so as to provide a little help in achieving safe and efficient offshore cargo lifting and personnel transfer.
