This article provides an analysis of Donald Trump’s Save America Rally speech in 2021, employing a critical discourse approach. This research employs Critical Discourse Analysis to examine Trump’s “Save America” Rally speech, analyzing language on both the micro and macro levels. Through Critical Discourse Analysis, using Van Dijk’s framework, this analysis examines the discourse strategies, society, and cognition of the given speech. The results of this analysis highlight the use of pronouns, synonyms/antonyms, and repetition during Trump’s Save America Rally speech. Using pronouns like ‘us’ and ‘them’ highlights ideological divides. Synonyms and antonyms are a discourse strategy to create coherence and reinforce the speech. Repetition is constantly used to clarify terms during the Save America speech. By analyzing this topic, the research aims to shed light on the broader implications of the current political discourse, particularly now that Donald Trump has been elected the 45th President of the United States.
