The research aims to reveal the specific properties of Sonata No. 3 for Violin and Piano by Grażyna Bacewicz, an outstanding representative of Polish musical culture of the 20th century. Close attention is paid in the article to the figurative content of the work, the peculiarities of the composition, and the means of musical expression. In addition, performance and technical difficulties are identified, and the problem of interaction between partners in the ensemble is touched upon. The research is novel in that it is the first one in Russian musicology to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the musical text of Sonata No. 3 for Violin and Piano by Grażyna Bacewicz, identifying the characteristic features of the composer’s style. As a result of the research, it was determined that this work by the Polish composer represents a unique interpretation of the chamber-instrumental genre, in which the classical structure of the cycle is organically combined with symphonic principles of development and compositional techniques of the 20th century.
