The importance of lesson planning has been highlighted for many decades as successful teaching is a demanding activity which depends on the teacher. The aim of this study is to investigate the teachers’ training needs, experiences and views regarding the interest the students show in the Modern Greek language lesson. To this end, a questionnaire was created and distributed to teachers in primary education in the Achaia prefecture during the 2023-2024 school year. The research data reveal that participation in training has helped the teachers to prepare the modern Greek language lesson, while also highlighting their need for further training. As contemporary school discourse is continually being reshaped, teachers" views can serve as a springboard for the development of educational policies that promote authentic language teaching and active student participation.
