Emotional Intelligence and Job Satisfaction of Kindergarten Teachers

In the present study, the correlation between emotional intelligence and professional satisfaction of kindergarten teachers in the Region of Ioannina was investigated. Emotional intelligence was assessed with the Petrides and Furnham TEIQue-SF-30 scale, which examined the level of emotional intelligence as well as its four dimensions ((Well-being, Self-control, Emotionality, and Sociability). Job satisfaction was assessed with the Dinham and Scott teachers" satisfaction scale. This scale includes five dimensions of job satisfaction: "Characteristics of work and teacher training", "Change and improvement in education", "Climate, decision making and leadership", "Social relations, professional success and development" and "Conditions" teachers" work ". The results showed a positive correlation between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction of the kindergarten teachers who participated in the present study. Given the importance of emotional intelligence for job satisfaction and pedagogical work, it is advisable to develop skills and create experiences that contribute to the emotional intelligence of kindergarten teachers.
