For modern higher education institutions, the search for and implementation of new tools to improve economic security is of particular relevance due to the impact of a complex structure of factors. It has been determined that, on the one hand, the influence of such factors, on the other, a significant change in the parameters of the functioning of higher education in these conditions, actualizes the task of developing a comprehensive system of indicators for assessing the economic security of higher education. The purpose of this work is to substanti-ate the structure and list of indicators for assessing the economic security of higher education, taking into ac-count the impact of a set of factors. The object of the study is the economic security of the higher education system of the Russian Federation, the subject is methodological issues of assessing economic security. Re-search methods: theoretical (analysis and synthesis, generalization of scientific literature); empirical (meas-urement); statistical (statistical observation, method of grouping and generalizing data from the studied materi-al), method of correlation analysis. The paper presents the author’s two-level classification of modern factors affecting the economic security of higher education. An algorithm for the formation and substantiation of a sys-tem of indicators for assessing the economic security of higher education is proposed.
