Background/Aim: Quality of life is frequently impaired by acne irrespective of age. The study aimed to assess quality of life impairment amongst adolescent and post adolescent facial acne patients.Materials and methods: Cross-sectional study of 215 facial acne patients. Acne severity was graded using the combined acne severity scale and quality of life (QoL) was assessed using the Cardiff Acne Disability Index (CADI). Patients aged 20 years and below were regarded as having adolescent acne and those aged 25 years and above as having post adolescent acne.Results: The mean CADI of the group was 6.5 ± 3.5. The severity of QoL impairment was mild in 28.7%, moderate in 44.8% and severe in 20.7%. The mean CADI ± SD in adolescents was 5.82±3.12 and 6.71±3.86 in postadolescents (p=0.063). Sociodemographic factors impaired QoL more in PAA than in AA.Conclusion: Differences exist in the quality of life impairment between adolescent and post-adolescent individuals and this is worse in post-adolescent individuals.
