The preservation and transmission of the content of historical memory in the context of global geopolitical processes taking place in the world is the primary task of any sovereign state and can be carried out in various ways. Traditionally, oral and written forms are the most common. At the same time, modern society increasingly prefers audiovisual media - electronic media that contain both audio and visual parts, such as presentations, films, installations, television programs, commercials, etc. The article presents the materials of the author's sociological study of the socio-cultural mechanisms of the influence of audiovisual media on modern forms of preservation of historical memory, conducted among students of a regional medical university. The preferences of representatives of the studied social group are analyzed when choosing the viewed historical material. Tools and algorithms for the dissemination of information content using audiovisual technologies in public cultural and educational institutions are presented.
