The purpose of this study is to evaluate the risk of musculoskeletal disorders by analyzing the two-person patient transport method using a variable stretcher (VS) and a long back board (LBB) with the PATH-KOSHA technique. The results of the study showed that the two-person patient transport method requires improvements in work posture, regardless of the type of stretcher used. To address this, it is necessary to increase the number of emergency medical personnel to to achieve a 100% occupancy rate, as the current national average is only 68%. Additionally, in cases where patients are overweight or in confined spaces, a four-person transport method using a pump-ambulances should be established. Also, National Fire Academies should move away from patient transport education that relies on instructors’ personal experience and instead develop, distribute, and implement standardized patient transport programs.
