Psychological safety—the shared belief among individuals that they can express themselves at work without fear of negative consequences—has become a foundational pillar in promoting innovation, learning, and well-being in today’s dynamic organizational landscapes. This review draws on empirical findings from high-impact journals published over the last 5 to 10 years to examine what fosters psychological safety and what it enables within modern work teams. The analysis highlights critical enablers such as inclusive leadership, team trust, organizational culture, remote work strategies, and individual traits. It also explores the wide-ranging consequences of psychological safety, including enhanced learning, innovation, ethical behavior, and engagement. As organizations navigate hybrid work arrangements and growing diversity, understanding psychological safety becomes increasingly essential. This review concludes by identifying research gaps and suggesting directions for future inquiry.
